Ken started playing the cornet at the age of 9. By the age of 10 he had joined the local brass band (Rowntree cocoa Works band York). Whilst there he played several instruments until he eventually discovered the Trombone. He immediately fell in love with the sound and decided to teach himself this instrument, which he still plays to this day.

During his brass banding career Ken has played for many Yorkshire brass bands, many of them in the championship section.

Since Ken founded fanfareBrass in 2002 they have had over 300 engagements and several tours abroad.

Ken considers himself to have had the privilege of playing to members of the Royal family notably HRH Prince Charles, The Duke & Duchess of York, and the Duke and Duchess of Kent.

Throughout his musical career ,he has several Television appearances to his credit, more notably The Russell Harty show, This is your life, Gardening programmes and Blue Peter.

Ken has experience of many styles of music from Brass Band to Military Band to German Oompah to Orchestral and Pit Orchestra work.

During Ken's musical career he has travelled abroad on many occasions visiting France, Australia, Denmark, Germany and at the opening of the houses of Parliament on the Isle of Man.

Ken likes nothing more than leaving an audience with huge smiles on their faces after listening to Fanfare.
